Clark Street Baptist Church, Johnson City, will celebrate 60 years of ministry with a homecoming celebration on Sept. 17. The service begins at 10 a.m. with the gospel trio Sacred Harmony, followed by an 11 a.m. service with guest speaker Willie Lunsford and guest choir director Glenn Church.

Scotts Hill Baptist Church, Scotts Hill, is inviting people to attend an “all denominational” March for Jesus and Praise and Glorify God rally at the Scotts Hill City Park on Saturday, Sept. 23. Music will start at 1 p.m. and will be provided by local groups. Pastors will begin speaking at 2 p.m. with the March for Jesus scheduled around 3:30 p..m.

Bonnertown Baptist Church, Five Points, will hold a homecoming celebration on Sept. 24 with Ronnie Galloway preaching, followed by a meal. The Kellys will sing at 2 p.m. A love offering will be collected to help support their ministry.

Highland Park Baptist Church, Lawrenceburg, held homecoming on Sept. 10 with guest speaker Steve Flippo, director of missions for Lawrence County Baptist Association, based in Leoma.

Randy Maxwell, director of missions for William Carey Baptist Association, based in Fayetteville, for the past eight-and-one-half years, has announced his resignation based on health issues, effective Dec. 31. Of his time with the association, Maxwell said, “We have experienced tremendous blessings, loving the Lord and each other.”

Retired Tennessee Baptist pastor Roger Ellsworth of Jackson has recently published two new books – The “Thumbs-Up” Man and When God Blocks Our Path. The new books are part of Ellsworth’s My Coffee Cup Meditations series. Each book consists of 31 easy-to-read devotions based on a Bible quotation or passage. On Sunday morning, Aug. 13, First Baptist Church, Morristown, hosted the Carson-Newman University football team. Evangelist Rick Gage from Georgia spoke to the team. There were 60 decisions for Christ with nearly 40 of the young men on the football team professing faith in Jesus.
Carson-Newman University held its annual Prayer Walk and Welcome Ceremony on Aug. 26. C-N President J. Randall O’Brien and his wife Kay led the walk followed by incoming students and families. The event, which begins at C-N’s Henderson Humanities Building, has become one of the most popular campus traditions as it welcomes new students to the university.

A 40-member team from Riverside Baptist Association, based in Livingston, recently returned from a missions trip in Cincinnati, Ohio. The team participated in Vacation Bible School with Trinity Baptist Church in Hartwell and worked closely with the church’s pastor Brad Plaisted and his wife Annette to strengthen existing work. The team also engaged in prayer walking, park ministry, canvassing neighborhoods and administering surveys. In addition, the team also did some renovation work on the Baptist Collegiate Ministry building at the University of Cincinnati.

A seven-member team from Duck River Baptist Association served in July at Graphitti3 Church, a new church plant in Brooklyn, N.Y. Team members led a children’s day camp in one of the highest at-risk neighborhoods in the city.
