Gary Snuffin recently became the senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson. He has served at the church since 2012 as families and discipleship pastor. He holds degrees from Union University, Jackson, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C. He and his wife, Natalie, have three children.
First Baptist Church, Halls, has called Hal Poe as interim pastor. Poe is the Charles Colson Professor of faith and Culture at Union University in Jackson.
Todd Meredith is the new pastor of First Baptist Church, Taft.
Greg Ernsberger is the new director of missions for JST Baptist Association. He formerly served as pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Dover. Prior to that pastorate he was the English pastor for Eternal Living Waters Korean Baptist Church in Clarksville. He served as an International Mission Board missionary from 2001-06. Ernsberger has served as the volunteer mission coordinator for the association since 2010. He also was a harvest plant missionary for the Tennessee Baptist Convention on a contract basis from 2013-14.
Bill Ailey is the new pastor of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, Maryville. He formerly served as pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Maryville, and as associate pastor of Niles Ferry Baptist Church, Greenback, and Laurel Bank Baptist Church, Friendsville.
Justin Sutton is the new pastor of Caylor’s Chapel Baptist Church, Townsend.
Union Grove Baptist Church, Maryville, has called Sean Patton as pastor.
Roger S. “Sing” Oldham is joining the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board staff as a contract consultant for the next six months. He will be assisting in the development of systems and tools to equip and encourage pastors and ministry leaders. Oldham is a former pastor of First Baptist Church, Martin. He most recently served with the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee for 13 years.
Charles Bailey has retired as pastor of Central Baptist Church, Alcoa. John Turner is interim pastor.
Bruce Yates is serving as interim pastor of Armona Baptist Church, Alcoa. Former pastor Bob Lawson retired.
CHURCHES
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Martin, will hold spring revival services March 29-April 1 with Zeke Penick preaching and Daniel Doss leading worship music.
Troy First Baptist Church recently held a “Love Your Neighbor” revival with Greg Whaley and Alan Pittman.
Wolf Creek Baptist Church, Spring City, will hold revival services April 19-22 with evangelist Phil Glisson of Memphis.
EVENTS
The spring meeting of the Middle Tennessee Missionary Fellowship will be held May 2 from 10 a.m. through lunch (compliments of Tennessee WMU) at the Church Support Center of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, 4017 Rural Plains Circle, Franklin. The Middle Tennessee Missionary Fellowship is comprised of all retired and former IMB missionaries who served two years or more, who live in the mid-state area. Guest speaker for the meeting will be Sharon Pumpelly, former missionary in Africa, who currently serves on the IMB Mobilization Team working with alumni.
