First Baptist Church, Humboldt, recently changed its name to The Church at Sugar Creek. As people have become more mobile, the church has realized the opportunity to cast a broader net over a three-county region, the church reported. Brownsville Baptist Church, Brownsville, held a Kids Art Project and then delivered gifts to residents of a retirement home. The children painted wooden blocks and added decorative Bible verses, explained Walter Brinks, minister of music. Children in grades 1-5 participated. They were shy at first but “an hour later they did not want to leave,” said Brinks, who added that the children were encouraged to distribute hugs as well as their gifts that Saturday morning. The church holds a children’s event offsite every two months, he said.
