RICHMOND — The International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention appointed 20 new fully-funded missionaries to serve around the world at their Feb. 28-March 1 meeting.
In addition, trustees appointed a search committee to find a successor to IMB President David Platt who announced plans to return to the pastorate in February. The committee will be chaired by Chuck Pourciau, senior pastor of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA. Andy Davis, senior pastor/elder of First Baptist Church, Durham, N.C., will serve as vice-chair.
Other members include Rick Dunbar, a member of First Baptist Church Madison, Miss.; David Sills, professor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and member of Ninth & O Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky.; Lisa Lovell, member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Ark.; Ken McLemore, missions pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton, Va.; Nancy Patrick, member of Living Legacy Church in Hershey, Pa.; Will Payne, member of Central Baptist Church in Syracuse, N.Y.; Seth Polk, lead pastor of Cross Lanes Baptist Church in Cross Lanes, W.Va.;
Bill Ricketts, retired pastor and member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church in Athens, Ga.; Tim Simpson, pastor of Greenridge Baptist Church in Clarksburg, Md.; Cindy Snead, member of North Phoenix Baptist Church in Phoenix; Derek Spain, executive pastor of Hebron Church in Dacula, Ga.; Susan Bryant, Kentucky WMU president and member of Graefenburg Baptist Church in Waddy; and Robert Welch, senior pastor of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brownsboro, Texas.
The 16-member committee will include Duane Ostrem, an IMB field leader, who will provide perspective from the field. He will be a non-voting member.
